That being a retro piece that got rebooted.

Apparently it still is in Japan, that's why it got the reboot. I'm not fully sure whether it falls into shounen or seinen target audience, but it definitely requires more thinking through than most generic and straightforward adventure series that are popular today. Its mains are very flawed, antiheroic, cynical or emotionally vulnerable in themore realistic sense of the word, where talk-no-jutsu-ing won't instantly snap them back and they'll take some time to pull themselves together.

Ahh I see. It may be popular in Japan but not here in West. 😭
I grew up with the original anime back then.

Don't waste your time. 1st season is kind of ok 5/10 for the rest is rubbish. The story is too fragmented, the animation sucks. I only watched the first 2 seasons and occasionally an ep from the other seasons.

Ah, I thought Jack Frisbee was just another perfect/ideal specimen created from Childman's network, instead he is like the sumo dude from Ragnarok.

Well, his demise (I thought he was a big shot for the whole season) was almost as anti-climatic as the almighty barrier: "if you really want to enter, hey, come on in!".

Majic logic: yells a girl not to sob, otherwise the enemy might hear her and come back - genius level here!

I was a bit confused with Jack's loss. Orphen with a knife clashed with Jack's fist. Orphen lost his knife, he doesn't know how. Then in the final clash, he finds it in Jack's chest? He doesn't recall successfully stabbing him? xD Then Jack just accepts his loss... from blood loss? xD I thought he had solid muscles able to crush his own bones, then dies at a knife stab. xD

He's another despairing character...so he embraces death...I swear therapists would make a fortune on most characters here who're "despair this, despair there" or "I'm in despair, you're in despair, he's in despair, she's in despair, everybody's in despair"

Well, the knives were thrown and apparently deflected by some of Jack's BS techniques, but apparently one landed a critical hit.

Still not sure why he thought Corgon was not good enough to defeat him (maybe not being as reckless as Orphen and coming closer with his attacks?), but it all felt like "ah, shit, we are going to cut 1-2 episodes out of the previously scheduled run, so Jack has to die slipping on a banana peel or the like"...
